MotionSavvy Ron Pettingill, President
Three deaf RIT engineering graduates started MotionSavvy. They wanted to create a technology that would enable two-way communication between the deaf and the hearing without the need for a 3rd party interpreter. They have achieved that with the MotionSavvy UNI platform. A SaaS platform that allows the use of a tablet or phablet coupled with a peripheral or embedded motion sensor that interprets American Sign Language in real time and outputs it to voice or text. No need for a third party whether on-site or via video remote, economical enough to have available 24x7. Enables any company or government institution to be in compliance with federal law. But most importantly it emulates a natural 1 to 1 conversation. Company is currently working on proof of concept projects with Wells Fargo, Rochester Airport, Wegmans, and Disney. Current investors include Wells Fargo, SOSVentures, and the RIT Venture Fund. Target markets include government, transportation, fast food, banks, supermarkets, and many others. The business model is a simple, cloud based SaaS model. Visit www.motionsavvy.com for more information.
interactiveX Rohan Shah, CEO Teachers are beginning to look towards what will come after traditional LMS's such as Blackboard, D2L, and Canvas. interactiveX has discovered the answer by providing a secure cloud-based LCMS (Learning Content Management System) that gives teachers and students the ability to interact with their course material easier, and like never before. Teachers can use 3D models, interactive charts, note markup, in-class quizzes, polling, and an easy to use drag and drop editor that allows teachers to convert and create their own learning content.
interactiveX was started by UB Student Entrepreneurs, with previous start Up experience which led them to win New York State Business Plan competition (WNY), UB's E-Lab, Buffalo Sandbox Winners, and a semifinalist in the 43north Competition ('15). In the past last 7 weeks alone, interactiveX has expanded into 5 Universities and Colleges. The company has over 4000 students that are intended to use its platform this Fall, not to mention, department-wide adoption at the University at Buffalo Computer Science and Engineering. This number is only going to increase exponentially as interactiveX scales. Check out https://ixlearn.com/ for more information.
